Interested in Freemasonry?
2B1ASK1 — To Be One, Ask One. Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest fraternal organizations, built on the principles of Faith, Hope, and Charity. We neither recruit nor solicit members — by long-standing tradition, a man must ask to join of his own free will. If you've found your way to this page, you've already taken the first step.
General Requirements
- Be a man of at least 21 years of age (18 in some jurisdictions with parental consent — ask a Brother for specifics).
- Believe in a Supreme Being (Freemasonry is not tied to any single religion, but a belief in a higher power is required).
- Be of good moral character and reputation in your community.
- Come of your own free will and accord — no one may be recruited or pressured into Freemasonry.
- Be free-born (or its modern equivalent) and under no restraint of liberty.
- Be capable of supporting yourself and your dependents.
How to Petition — What Happens Next
1. Get to know a Mason
Speak with a Brother you already know, or reach out to us here. Ask questions — there is no obligation.
2. Submit your petition
A current member sponsors your petition for membership, which is then read at a Stated Meeting.
3. Investigation Committee
A small committee of Brothers meets with you and your family to learn more about you — and answer your questions.
4. Vote & Degrees
The Lodge votes on your petition. Once accepted, you begin your Masonic journey through the three degrees: Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason.
